Morning Arrival/Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

In order to maintain a safe, secure and orderly environment that promotes student independence and self-management of learning, the sdministration, staff and SBDM developed arrival and dismissal procedures.  We thank you for your cooperation with these procedures.

Morning Procedures:

7:30 – 7:45 a.m.       Parents may walk student to the designated line-up area and then immediately exit the building.

7:45 a.m.                   All visitors and parents exit the building.  Front doors will be locked, and parents may walk students to the MAIN ENTRANCE where                                   a staff member is stationed to escort students to designated line-up areas.

8:00 a.m.                   Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. are TARDY.  Staff will complete the tardy process.

No parents/guardians or visitors will be allowed in the building between 7:45 – 8:15 a.m.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures:

2:45 – 3:15 p.m.       Front doors will be closed to visitors during this time.  Students are escorted by staff to designated pick-up areas.

Early pick-up for appointments must be done before 2:30 p.m.  Do not park in the carpool lane for early pick-up, as this blocks the carpool lane for other parents and/or school buses.

Early pick-ups are documented.  Parents/guardians of students with excessive early pick-ups will be contacted by an Assistant Principal.  Please be mindful that patterns of late arrivals and early pick-ups can reflect on your child’s attendance.

Please remember:

*  It is illegal to use cell phones in school zones during arrival and dismissal times.

*  Do not make U-turns or double –park on the streets in front of or beside the school.  It is hazardous and can block traffic both directions.

*  Please no loud music or pets while in the car pool lane. Thank you.

Below are additional guidelines specific to arrival and dismissal at the Lower Campus:

ARRIVAL

If you walk to school:

Please do not walk through the parking lot or in the car pool lane.  Please remain on the sidewalks and always use the crosswalks to cross streets. A crossing guard is on duty at Mary Cliff and Stevens Forest to assist you.

If you drive to school:

In the morning, we recommend that you drive through the car pool lane and form one lane. Volunteers will signal you when to stop and will assist your child in exiting the vehicle. Please note: 7:15 -7:30 arrivals enter building by café entrance; 7:30 and after use the main entrance.

Arrivals will be less stressful if your child is ready to exit the car once you are at the entrance. Please say your good-bye at home and make sure your child has all school work and supplies in the backpack.

DISMISSAL

Students at Rosemont Primary are dismissed at staggered times. Pre-Kinder will exit the building first and assemble to the right of the café entrance, then Kinder classes will exit at the main entrance and will stand to the left and to the right of the flag pole. First grade students will exit next and will wait to the left and to the right of the main entrance. Second grade classes exit last and will stand to the right  of the Pre-Kinder classes.

We recommend that you drive through the car pool lane and form two lanes. Please drive slowly (5mph). Place your yellow car pool lane card on your dash so we can have your child ready. Staff members will assist with loading. Staff members will direct you when to stop and when to proceed slowly.  You must remain in one lane, do not change lanes. Do not exit your vehicle; you must remain in your vehicle while in the car pool lane.  Traffic will flow in one direction. When exiting the car pool lane, you will be required to turn right onto Stevens Forest if you are in the right hand lane and left if you are in the left hand lane.

If you choose to park your car on Stevens Forest and walk to your child’s waiting area, please remember you may not make a u-turn during dismissal and you must walk to the crosswalk and follow the staff member directions.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Car pool lane cards are most helpful during inclement weather. Students will remain in the building and wait for staff members to call for them; students will be walked to their vehicle. Pre-Kinder and Second grade students will wait in the café, Kinder and First grade students will wait in the main entrance area. Your patience is appreciated as this will require you to wait for your child. Please plan on delays.  Remember, stay in your vehicle, do not change lanes, drive slowly and follow all traffic rules. Staff members will direct traffic and will signal when to stop and when it is safe to proceed.

Thank you for helping make Rosemont Primary a safe and friendly school.

Successful implementation of these procedures depends on everyone’s cooperation.

Remember safety first!

Animal/Pet Policy

For the safety of all children at the Rosemont Schools, no pets are allowed on the campus of Rosemont Elementary or Rosemont Primary at any time, even if they are on leashes or in carriers.  Service animals are an exception to this policy, but school administrators should be notified in advance if you will need a service animal on school grounds.
